BECOME A MEMBER OF THE BEST TOURISM ASSOCIATION IN KENTUCKY

JOIN THE KENTUCKY ASSOCIATION OF CONVENTION
AND VISITORS BUREAUS

Convention and visitor bureaus (known as conference and/or tourism boards in many countries) are primarily not-for-profit organizations that represent a specific destination such as a city or region. CVB’s serve as the “official” contact point for their destination for meeting professionals, tour operators and individual visitors.

Our mission is to enhance the professionalism, effectiveness, and image of the Kentucky Tourism Commissions.

KACVB has created an inclusive, accessible, and responsive organization for all bureau professionals in Kentucky.

Our Purpose:

   a. To improve the public awareness and understanding of the convention and visitors industry’s economic and social contribution to society.

   b. To monitor and influence government policies and programs affecting members and the convention and visitor industry.

    c. To provide forums for personal interactions among members.

   d. To support high standards of professional practices throughout the convention and visitor industry.

   e. To maintain relationships with other tourism industry organizations to address common issues.

   f. To encourage on-going educational opportunities for members which enhance their proficiency.

   g.  To enhance the profile of KACVB and the convention and visitor industry in Kentucky. The dues are $100 for a new member for one year. After the first year, dues are $200. There are four quarterly meetings, which are held around the state.

Each year, four tourist commissions/cvbs volunteer to host KACVBs quarterly meetings in different parts of the state. This is an opportunity for the tourist commission/cvb to showcase their city and their unique attractions and for KACVB members to take this information back and pass it along to their visitors.

The networking opportunities are numerous and the chance to borrow ideas and implement in your city are endless. During the first day of the meeting an educational speaker is scheduled to provide information on such subjects as signage, auditing, tourism expenditures, legislative issues and much more.

The second day of the meeting is the general membership meeting.
